If you work outdoors, then you will know that Summer is the toughest season by far! Not only do you have to be outside in the elements, if you are a tradie you also must wear a minimum level of clothing for protection purposes. With summer fast approaching, we thought we’d give you some tips and tricks on what you can do to beat the heat this season!

Light fabrics

The lighter the fabric, the cooler you will be! Even if your works requires you wear a full head-to-toe kit, try find garments made from lighter fabrics. This will allow you to completely be covered, whilst not actually keeping you warm.

Shorts, not pants!

Shorts are definitely a lot cooler than a pair of long pants. If you’re trying to stay cool, we recommend opting for shorts as opposed to long pants. However, please keep in mind that long pants do offer better sun protection, and will help you avoid getting cuts, grazes, and even snake bites.

Wear A Looser Fit

Looser fitting clothing allows you to move more freely, and therefore your body is able to breath easier. If you really want to stay cool in the Summer, cotton probably your best option!

Hats and Sunglasses

A hat will help you stay cool, whilst also protecting your head and face from the heat. Make sure you opt for a wide-brimmed hat and not a cap, as caps will not protect you properly. A pair of sunglasses is also essential when you are working outdoors. The heat is harsh on all parts of your body, including your eyes.

Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated might not have anything to do with workwear, however if you want to stay cool, make sure you keep your fluids up. Keep in mind that your body will be sweating, so you need to constantly replace all the fluid you lose.

We hope these little tips and tricks help you out this Summer. Choose clothing that is looser fitting (preferably cotton), made from a light fabric, wear shorts as opposed to pants (if you can!), remember your hat and sunnies, and stay hydrated!
