OnTheGo and into The Shark Tank
THE LAST TIME WE CAUGHT UP WITH MICK SPENCER, FOUNDER AND MANAGING DIRECTOR OF ONTHEGO WAS 2014, WHEN HE’D JUST TAKEN OUT AN ACT EXPORTER OF THE YEAR AWARD.
Mick has an incredible story, having dropped out of university in 2011 at the age of 21 to found his company out of his parent’s garage, with a mere $150 in his bank account.
OnTheGo is now official apparel partner of BMX World Champion (and Canberra local) Caroline Buchanan, as well as the CBR Brave ice hockey team, and health brands including Anytime Fitness, Fitbit, IRONMAN, Next Gen, The Club Group and more. Last year, OnTheGo launched their first Dundasfit collection in collaboration with TV host Jason Dundas – a collection now stocked in David Jones stores.
In true Mick Spencer fashion, the young entrepreneur has no intention of slowing down and this Sunday will be appearing in the new season premiere of Network Ten’s Shark Tank, looking for a $300,000 investment in a return for a 10% stake in his business.
“I’ve watched the show for years from the US” says Mick, “and when it hit Australia I thought it would be exciting to go on.”
It’s not just the cash that sparked Mick’s interest, but also the exposure to a team of Sharks that includes Janine Allis of Boost Juice and Naomi Simson of RedBalloon.
“It’s an incredible experience. Being able to pitch your start-up to a room of entrepreneurs collectively worth more than $1 billion, and get live feedback and critical analysis on your business is truly priceless.”
“I’m so excited to be able to show the nation the hard work that my team has put into this cause – day in, day out.”
Mick is an excellent entertainer – his passion for his brand is palpable and intense, and we’re excited to watch him on his latest adventure.
Join us – tune in to Network Ten’s Shark Tank at 9pm this Sunday.
