The Year in Reflection
The Year in Reflection
As 2018 comes to a close, we thought we would take this opportunity to look back on the most pivotal year in ONTHEGO history!
Six years in the making, we celebrated some of the company’s biggest achievements. However, as we know all too well, success never comes without pain. 2018 has been a year filled with excitement, discomfort, learning, prosperity, hustle, hard-work, and immense accomplishments for not only the company, but for everyone involved.
In April, our Canberra headquarters moved into brand new luxury offices. It was only a couple of months later that even the new office was too small, so we were forced to expand again and double our office size. We also introduced new showrooms in both Canberra and Melbourne.
June saw one of Australia’s biggest companies’, Westfarmers, acquired a stake in OTG. This took our valuation to five times its seed round in 2017. This deal demonstrated that the market saw value in OTG’s digital disruption model. With the support of Westfarmers and Workwear Group, we had the opportunity to grow faster and reach the next phase of our business journey.
In August, we had our first all-staff conference. We analysed the financial year that had just been, listened to exciting presentations from some of our staff members about the upcoming year ahead, and had the opportunity to bond as a team.
September saw our CEO, Mick Spencer, take on the Red Centre Challenge. Mick, along with 15 other elite athletes, rode over 400km’s across some of Australia’s most rugged terrain, all in the name of charity. The team raised over $250,000, which went towards the Starlight Children’s Foundation ‘Healthier Futures’ initiative.
In November, we had the Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison, come to visit the Canberra office, meet the team, and hold his weekly press conference from our warehouse. This was definitely one of the highlights for the whole team!
November also saw Mick released his first book, “Start Before You’re Ready.” He then proceeded to go on tour to all capital cities in Australia to talk about his journey and share his personal experience of founding OTG.
From the millionth OTG product being shipping, to our factories completed their Ethical Standards Assessment, the company has continued to see huge success throughout 2018. Our ‘delivery in full on time (DIFOT) score has continued to increase, we finally hit over 100,000 orders online, and our team has grown from just 25 to over 40 staff members.
Through all the ups and downs of 2018, we have never taken our customers for granted. We work not for the CEO, but for you: The Customer. We take this opportunity to thank you for your support. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year from the entire team!
